Friend Friday: Cinnamon Sugar Swirl Bread
[We welcome Katherine Bougie to our blog today! Sometimes friends are more like sisters, and she is one of those kinds of friends. There is lots we could say, and we will say more at some point, but for today...enjoy this post and delicious bread recipe. It would be worth your time to make some this weekend!]
Cinnamon Sugar Swirl
Bread
Nothing is better than a fresh piece of homemade bread,
along with a cup of coffee or in my case, hot tea. This is a quick, sweet bread
recipe that is perfect for any occasion. I recently made it for Allison and
Ronnie when they visited on a chilly afternoon. Allison loved it so much, she
asked me to share it with ya'll. My husband enjoys it as an afternoon snack at
work and also at breakfast. I recently took a loaf to my brother and
sister-in-law who just welcomed their second child. It really is a great sweet
bread to be enjoyed any time of the day!
Ingredients:
Batter:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup milk
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
Cinnamon Sugar Mix:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Add egg, milk and vegetable oil. Stir until moistened.
- Pour half of the batter into a greased 9x5 loaf pan.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mix (you can save a little to sprinkle on top of the loaf before baking).
- Cover with remaining batter.
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mix on top if desired (I like to use a knife to create a marble effect on top of the loaf).
- Bake for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes before removing loaf to cool completely on wire rack (or if you are at my house, several pieces will go missing as soon as you turn your back).
8 servings. 278 calories.
