'Tis the Season: Progressive Tree Decorating
We began a new tradition last year to make tree decorating quite fun! We have always picked out our trees from a local tree farm on the Friday or Saturday after Thanksgiving; but sometimes it would take a few days to get them decorated. So, we started our progressive tree decorating last year, and the trees are up and decorated right away!
After we get home from the tree farm, each family is responsible to put their tree in the stand and put on the lights. Then we all gather at each others' homes and hang ornaments and help decorate for Christmas. We have appetizers, soup and dessert along the way. What usually happens is that a couple of people decorate and the rest of us eat! It's so much fun. This year we began at Allie's for appetizers; headed to Mom and Dad's for a bowl of Grammie's veggie soup; and finished the night at our house for Hummingbird cake! We ate plenty and the trees are beautiful. Grab a few friends and try a progressive tree party!

| Crescent wrapped Brie, assorted cheese and crackers (we have an Aldi close by, and they have lots of fun cheeses to choose from), olives, slices of prosciutto, apples and caramel dip made a wonderful appetizer spread! For the crescent wrapped brie, (here is a recipe similar to what we make. We use fig preserves and leave out the nuts. You can play around with this kind of recipe). |
