Marry Well and Marry Up

By Every Tradition · Every Tradition

People always talk about "marrying up" and I am in full agreement. My main man is 6'1" and to my 5'4" self, that is definitely up. Conversations at closer than a 4 foot distance usually result in a neck strain!

After much thought, here are 5 reasons why you should "marry up" ...

1. The arm. Scientifically speaking (but don't quote me in your research) people who are taller tend to have longer arms. This results in an uncanny ability to reach the remote control that mysteriously slips behind the couch. Come on ladies...who doesn't want to marry a couch-potato enhancing, long armed hero? Marry up.

2. Shoe size, anyone? Mr. Big will wear a shoe that rivals the size of a small canine. Have you ever shopped in the men's 12-14 shoe section? Not too many options there! Fewer shoe choices for him = more space for your "my shoes only match one outfit so I need 65 pairs" collection. Marry up, my friend.

3. Car duty. What man wants to get into a tiny car, only to find out the seat has been pushed so far forward he could drive with his teeth? Ladies, I promise that if you move his seat forward every time you drive, he will eventually come to his senses and never ask you to drive again.  Now you can "be on time" by applying your make up in the car. Make up and marry up!

4. "Who put that up there?" This is a question I ask myself every time I try to reach for cooking spray. Not only will he be able to reach those higher shelves, but his impeccable height will insure his presence every time you cook! What a better way to get the hunky love of your life involved in kitchen duty, than to store your ingredients in places where only he can reach? Call me a genius and marry up!

5. Cool factor. It's just cool to be with the big guy. Purchase some black sunglasses and then walk around playing the Mission Impossible theme song on your smart phone. Every few minutes, duck around a corner and act like you are on a secret mission. People will flock to your presence. It's rad to marry up.

I am looking forward to marrying my very own long-armed, car driving, dinner ingredients grabbing, large shoe wearing man on May 12, 2014! Enjoy perusing some of our engagement photos taken at the Newry Mill and The High Hampton Inn. Many thanks to our photographer Mark Lopez and his lovely wife Catherine, for a wonderful time!
