Homemade vs. Store-Bought: Guacamole

By Every Tradition · Every Tradition
I love guacamole. I can eat a whole bowl, which is more than any human being should eat, in one sitting! Last week, I did just that. I know. It is a terrible confession. When it comes to guacamole, I like mine fresh. Store-bought isn't high on my list of preferences.

Here is my attempt at fresh guacamole:

Ingredients:
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/4 c. sweet onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 c. tomato, diced
  • Salt to taste

Directions:
  1. Peel avocado and mash avaocado to desired consistency
  2. Add onion and tomato
  3. Add salt to taste
  4. Serve immediately with your favorite chips, crackers, or veggies
Many recipes call for lime juice and a few spices. I like mine just plain!

I didn't do a full price comparison, but I do know store-bought costs more than I want to pay for something that I just don't really care for! I picked up my avocadoes for $1.98 and the tomato and onion were another $1.00. So, $3.00 for homemade...not too bad!

Enjoy!
