Simple Tastes of Fall: Apple Cake
Fall tradition for the Campbell Clan includes apple picking! This year, we learned something new. The more people you take, the more apples you pick. 4 bushels, to be exact. Our timing was impeccable, the week before Allie's due date! To encourage the onset of labor, Mom and Allie made 10 pies, 3 apple cakes, apple butter, apple sauce, apple crisp, and dried apples. I had the bright idea to go to Arizona during this time to visit Rachael. Her family flew back to SC with us, but guess what arrived the day before we flew out? A bushel of apples. So, we made apple sauce! One thing is for sure, apples will not go to waste under our watch! We are sharing a favorite apple cake recipe that's been a 15-year repeat!
