Spritz Cookie Recipe and Valentine's Deliveries

By Every Tradition · Every Tradition
For Valentine's day, we have our deliveries ready and this year, we are sharing spritz with the families we visit. The heart-shaped spritz fit perfectly in a 4 oz. mason jar! Spritz are my favorite butter cookie. We often make them at Christmas time, but why not enjoy them in February (or March, April, May...)? You will need a cookie press. My favorite is the Witon Cookie Pro Ultra II.

Spritz Cookies (makes about 5 dozen cookies)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond or vanilla extract
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  2. Cream butter and sugar
  3. Add remaining ingredients and combine (at this point, you may add food coloring if you would like to color the dough)
  4. Place dough in cookie press and press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet
  5. Bake for 6 - 9 minutes until cookies are set
  6. Remove from cookie sheet and cool
Looking for a special delivery idea?
  1. 4 ounce mason jar with rim and lid
  2. Fabric, cut in circles to go over lid
  3. Paint or fabric markers to decorate fabric
  4. 4 cookies in each jar
I think you can figure out how to put it together. Very simple, which is what "non-crafty" me needs!
