Sarah's Great Gift Giving: A Few of My Favorite Things

By Every Tradition · Every Tradition
It is difficult to come up with a list of my favorite gifts to give. I would consider myself fairly practical, but when it comes to Christmas gifting I get out of hand. Every year I budget my funds, but I never budget enough. Just ask my mom.

Last year, my New Year's resolution was to stay on budget for my Christmas gifting this year. Clearly, you will see through my Christmas list, that I have stayed faithful to my goal.

Without further comment, here are the gifts my family will be receiving this year:

1. Poetry
If you think I am referring to a printed and framed edition of Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," think again. Here is the type of poetry my family will be receiving from me:

I wrote you this poem,
Because you are fine,
And printing this paper,
Cost less than one dime.

2. Homemade Soap
I am not referring to the cute homemade evergreen scented soap with pine-cones in the center. This Christmas my family will be getting the following recipe:
Water
Dollar Store Bubbles
Blue Food Coloring

Add 1 cup of each into an old Windex container (I have been saving these all year).

3. Pens.
Everyone loves a good Cross or Mont Blanc to use for journaling. Thankfully, I won't be needing to purchase any of these brands. I was fortunate enough to attend the ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) Convention. During my time there I collected 35 free pens from the various vendors in the exhibit hall. I was able to mark off about 75% of my Christmas list during this collection (good planning on my part)!

In conclusion, I hope my Christmas gifting will inspire you to create, re-create or even re-gift for your family this year. For me, it is the perfect plan to keep my finances in check!

Merry Christmas!

Sarah Lou
