Friend Friday: Rollins' Homemade Ice Cream
Happy first day of summer! What better way to celebrate than with homemade ice cream? For many years, we had the pleasure
of having a man in our church who we affectionately referred to as “Dr. Peach.”
That was his job at Clemson … peaches. Every summer, he would share all kindsof peaches with us. Another friend would take the shared peaches and make the most
delicious peach ice cream! In honor of Friend Friday, we are sharing the Rollins’ homemade ice cream recipe. It is so simple and absolutely delicious. Since Dr. Peach and
his family moved to Washington state and our peach supply is low, we made banana ice cream tonight. Give this recipe
a try, and enjoy homemade ice cream this summer.
Ingredients:
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1-2 cups sugar (to your preferred sweetness)
- ½ gallon whole milk
- 1 pint whipping cream
- 1-2 teaspoons vanilla
- Fruit if desired (3 mashed bananas; ½ pint frozen peaches, etc.)
- Combine all ingredients except fruit
- Stir until sugar dissolves
- Add fruit and stir gently to combine
- Place mix in ice cream freezer and freeze according to directions on your machine
- May be eaten immediately or frozen and eaten later
