Homemade Pizza

By Every Tradition · Every Tradition

Friday night pizza night. Some families do it every week. We do Friday night pizza night occasionally (like tonight)! Years ago we used to have pizza after church on Sunday nights. There was a pizza place in downtown Clemson called Chanello's. It isn't there anymore, and I was too young to care about the spelling of the name, so I may have that part wrong. What I do remember is loading up in the car and being excited to sit around the table with our friends and eat lots of Pizza. Chanello's is gone, but we still love pizza.

Last night we ordered pizza and had it delivered to our house. By the time we got the extra toppings and paid the delivery charge and tip, it cost $24. The tip was generous, but we got a lot more for our money tonight! Homemade pizza takes a little work, but it is fun to be creative. I am sure it is much healthier too!

Here's how we did "homemade" tonight:

CRUST
Pizza crust is easy to make. We used this recipe off the bread flour bag: White Lily-Pizza Crust.

SAUCE
Buy a jar at the grocery store. This is our way of keeping it real today. You can make your own sauce, but we don’t have a recipe yet, so until we come up with one, store bought it is!
TOPPINGS
The options are endless.
Some of our favorite combinations (in addition to mozzarella):
For the women: Canadian bacon and pineapple
For the adventerous palate: Avocado, spinach, red pepper, onion and feta cheese
For the men: Pepperoni, avocado, spinach, red pepper, onion, feta cheese
For the children who don’t know any better: Cheese

Add homemade pizza to your Friday (or Saturday, or Sunday, etc.) night menu soon!
